Sorry I haven't updated recently!!!
I have been out and about collecting yet more research for my project. Although I have some things which really interest me I cannot yet see the link to actual designs and fabric work. However, along the way I have picked up a few surprises which I will be including somehow. Today's library research has been very fruitful with fabric embellishment and surface texture techniques. I have started looking in to the Japanese art form of 'Shibori' which is where fabric is tied, folded, pleated etc... in various forms before dying to create really interesting and beautiful structures. I think that I can recreate some of the artworks I have looked at in this way. However, I am a complete novice laking equipment, experience, and money! This weekend I will attempt to recreate some of these techniques the budget way and I don't doubt that my arms will be various colours up to my elbows come Monday morning! Well regardless of the outcome of my attempts I thought I would attach some pictures of various examples of Shibori for general interest. It is worth noting that the term 'Shibori' covers a hell of a lot of techniques and finishes and each is individually named, so this is only a taster and the possibilities are endless!!!
Wish me luck!
