Once at the venue a lady put a wristband on me and I was immediately backstage helping to finish off outfits and began by stitch a feather trim on to some hats. Once finished Ross (lead tailor also currently on project catwalk) put me to work finishing off some tailored trousers. The the largest challenge of the day was to completely reshape a skirt. Ross and I went around the model, bunching up the skirt and pinning it in the new shape which made it shorter and a rounder silhouette adding a nice light volume to the piece. Then came the part of shaping the skirt. It was made up of pink ribbons dangling down and although it must appear random and of varying lengths there must be some sort of shape and order to it! Once finished it was on to stitching a buckle on to a waistcoat, then adding a belt to a jacket. Before I know it I was helping 2 models get dressed and pinning their jackets closed and in place.
The production team get involved now and start getting the models in order and getting pretty rude towards all of the assistants telling them to bugger off. I had to try and pin up a models' sleeves so they wouldn't fall down during her walk.
Then it happened. Within a blink of an eye the show was over. That was it! All the stress and hard work for just 10 minutes of fantasy. I will be intrigued to see how his show is received and the video, which I will post on here. Sorry for this rather self indulgent post, but it has just been one of those days.
